WEDDING DRESSES?
Question by foresthall22:
Wedding Dresses?
I am looking for an on the web site were I can purchase a wedding dress. Any suggestions?
Nice Girl For Advice: Just so you know, I am not stupid. I know how to use the World wide web and how to search for things. Sometimes people ask for others views because they might have already looked somewhere. I do not think you need to be such a b*tch.
BTW I want to look at dress and try to narrow down what I am looking for. But to anyone that is going to be rude, DON’t bother answering.

Yes, do not purchase your wedding dress online. You need to try it on and see how it looks and fits before you purchase it. I purchase almost everything online, but I would never do that.

I would recommend going to a store and trying some on first and finding the style or a particular one first and then try to find one on the web you might find one cheaper but the same dress style…I dresses that I thought I would love I did not like at all on me so you should go try some on. Ideal of luck and congrats.

I have never bought a gown on the web but my only recommendation is to make sure you got your size right. Most sites will have a size chart where you can compare your measurements to the chart to find the right size. Do not just guess, find someone to measure you (mom, maid of honor…….)
Edit: A good site for you to just look at different styles and price ranges is http://theknot.com

I would buy the dress online, just make sure you have tried it on in a store first to get the right measurements from a professional fitter.
There is a good place to buy online which there home store is based in Florida. Here is the link.

Edit: I wonder how I got a thumbs down for this one? LOL
i also agree please don’t buy your dress on line because i bought mine on line and it didn’t fit and i couldn’t send it back and i couldn’t find anyone who could alter it because of the color of the fabric. its very hard to get what you want without actually trying it on and having it right in front of you.
I had back luck looking online, everything was designer (read: high fashion). When I went to stores they had much more wearable dresses. My advice would be don’t let what you see (especially anything you find on Google or through a magazine) depress you. If you like what you see you should be able to find more of the same, but if you don’t there’s a lot of options in the store that don’t seem to show up online.
I don’t have any online stores which didn’t depress me to offer.
You could look on ebay if you are trying to receive one quickly, however I started out looking online too. I am so glad that I went into the store to try on the dress I wanted. I ended up with the same dress I had found online that I liked BUT I wouldve never gotten the sizing right and I am an average size. I suggest googling designers like Monique Lhuillier, Lela Rose even the David’s bridal website. Maggie Sottero, Mon Cheribridal, Vera Wang etc and picking out a style you love, then take it to your local bridal shop and they should be able to help you find the dress of your dreams that FITS. You would hate to be out all that money on a dress that you think will look good that doesn’t. Good luck on your day!!

theknot.com is great because it is comprehensive and will show you all different designers.
Try http://www.shellyleppertdesigns.com they have new and used gowns and they can custom make you a gown. They take your measurements and also give you the measurements of the gowns that they sell, and when you receive your gown and for some reason it just will not fit you even if you were to get it altered they will let you return it.
For a really good and wide range of dresses have a look at http://www.houseofbrides.com/home.php I use them all the time to find dress styles, etc.
