Ok im going to my uncles wedding tommorow and im just a bit worried about my dress. Its a long black dress that goes to my ankles but its sleevless and has a huge slit up the side and I was going to wear them with black high heels. Would that be ok because I do not want anyone getting mad at me for wearing black. Would it be ok for me???
Im 13 by the way

——————————————

Answer by basketcase88
It depends on the wedding–if it’s an evening wedding, black is perfectly ok, because it’s probably more on the formal side. If it’s an afternoon garden wedding–I’d probably wear something a tiny more colorful. But no one’s really going to worry about you–like you said, you are 13. You are still finding your sense of style, as long as you look nice (and your mother approves) then you should be fine! Have fun at the wedding!

Answer by marietta
Sounds like it will look nice, but if you want to add some colour (to spice it up), or just to brighten up your look (some people dislike black at weddings, it seems morbid), then bring a coloured jacket/scarf/accessory. Brightly coloured beaded jewellery or something would be perfectly okay because you are young, and it will brighten you up.

I’m sure you will look great either way, and as the other girl said, as long as your parents approve you are probably okay!

Answer by Bride, bridesmaid and MOH 2008!
A long black dress with a high slit and high heels? Sounds a bit vampy for wearing to a wedding! Wearing black is not so bad as looking too provocative!

Question by snoopylover13:
If you do not have a maid of honor what do you do with your bouquet at the wedding?
I’m getting married in June. It is a small wedding like 25-30 people. We aren’t going through the trouble of having a wedding party. We will have ideal man/ring bairer, but no one else. I am getting a lot of heat on not having a maid of honor! I keep thinking of tiny things and getting worried about nothing. But I am wondering what I can do with my bouquet when I get up to the alter. Any ideas?

——————————————

Answer by kelasks
I have seen brides put their bouquet on the floor but if you do not want it to get crumpled or ruined you probably do not want to do that.

You could hand it off to your mom or someone else who is important to you. Chances are, those people would be in the front row anyway so they could go up there after you get down the aisle and then just hold the flowers at their seat.

Answer by Unknown
Hand it to your mom or your fiance’s mother. Or if you dont have parents hand it to a friend or relative, just have them sit at the front of the church/rows

Answer by ibtc8503
Why are you having a ideal man but not a maid of honor? That seems strange and it will look weird having this extra male up there without a female on your side. Oh well I guess you could lay your bouquet on the floor or have a person on your side of the family grab it.

——————————————

Question by Mommy29:
What can I do about having an allergic reaction to wearing my wedding rings?
I’ve had my ring for 9 years. I recently have a new band-2 years old. I had my solitare dipped in rotium(spelling) Could this be it? I have tried all kinds of creams for the red ring around my finger. It did the same thing on my other hand. Is there any type of ring I can wear?

——————————————

Answer by mX2007
You might be allergic to nickel. If you look on the web you should be able to find nickel free silver. I do not think that gold or platinum come in nickel free. Stainless steel is a really good option but you might not think that is good enough for a wedding ring.

Answer by beonthelevel
Something that works for me if I am allergic to a piece of jewelry, is to paint it with clear nail polish. It creates an invisible barrier between your skin and the metal. It worked when I was allergic to the metal that my glasses were made of, I painted the parts that touched my skin, and the irritation/rash went away. Clear nail polish works on earring posts and hooks really well too. You just need to re-coat it each once in a while when it starts to dry up and chip off. I only had to re-coat my glasses each 4-5 months.
PS: wow. I have never heard of an allergy to Rhodium. It’s possible though. It is a member of the platinum family, and one of the most costly metals. It is often used to coat sterling silver to prevent tarnishing. Is your ring white gold? I read that sometimes they plate nickel before plating rhodium, and the rhodium is porous.

Answer by drumbum
It might be Nickle, I have those lalergies and wear yellow gold 18K or superior because it has tiny if any in it. Look for metel blended with paladium…it’s nickle free.
Sterling Silver is never a good option, it contains nickle! I would try to see if I couild have it redipped in something else or see if you can have a plastic under part put on it. Or sometimes they have a allergin free liquaid that you can spread on it.

——————————————

Question by scotchbrandy:
How much does a (destination) wedding photographer cost?
I’m getting married this summer in St. Maarten. Anybody have any idea what the cost would be for a couple hours (at the most) for a wedding photographer? Since there will be no other family or friends present it will not be an all day event so I am hoping it would be cheaper than a typical wedding photographer.

——————————————

Answer by trantzylane
my sister in law, (fondly referred to as BRIDE~ZILLA!!!! for the month before her wedding)(AAAAARRRRRRGGGHHHHH) paid over $ 1500 for her photographer and he gave her only 200 pics.

Answer by jordan_smith@sbcglobal.net
I am one, and you can spend nothing, have your brother take them, or 25,000 dollars for New York’s best. The last one I did cost them 2000 dollars plus travel. I gave them about 400 pics all in all, 20 of which were photoshop’ed, and a DVD motion picture of about 20 mins length with music and special fxs, etc. I think this should have cost them more, but I was building my portfolio. Are you getting married on the Dutch side or French side?, I use to live on the Dutch side and know the owners of La Samana Hotel there.
You will be able to find someone on the Island to help you and it will not be 2000. Also look on Saba Island and St Barts as they are close and might have some photographers that can help you.

Answer by mconder
I was in the wedding photography industry for awhile. I can state that ranges very wildly, from $ 250 to $ 10,000 for a 2 hour event. I know you are saying that you want cheap. I am assuming you also want good pictures. The good news is sometimes you can get good and cheap. You need to know what to look for. Call around to all the photographers in your area. Make a list of 5 to 10 in your price range. Then you must go look at their portfolio. Make sure they have a portfolio of at least 6 or 7 weddings. Additionally, make sure he will show you a massive amount of pics from each wedding and it not limiting the number to 2 or 3 pics from each wedding. When you shoot 5,000 pics at a wedding, anyone is going to get 2 or 3 good pictures. A good photographer will have a much higher percentage of good versus bad pictures. Additionally, you need to call at least a couple of his references. Also, if the person does not have a well established business, then to not pay them up front for their services. You do not want a fly by night guy skipping town with your money and not even doing the wedding.

——————————————

Question by FIGJAM:
Tips to not be scammed by photographers on wedding day?
I have heard a few nightmare stories of people being ripped off with their wedding pics & have seen some myself that are way to dodgy for the price paid.
Any ideas on questions to ask the potential photographer to get the ideal possible results? Any tips on how to get them to lower costs?
Thanks

——————————————

Answer by baryymahoginer
Make sure you get first hand accounts from previous clients. See the results. Do you have friends who are happy with the photographer they used for their wedding? If so, look into that photographer. As far as price…always negotiate.

Answer by Jessie
Ok, as a model who has run into several “photographers” who really should be honest and call themselves “picture takers”…

My personal advice (learned from mistakes, mostly):

1) Ask to see a set of pictures, unedited, from someone else’s event. The photographer should be able to show you a contact sheet of how the images turned out before editing which will give you a GOOD idea of the consistency of their photographic quality.

To me, this is very important. If I am going to pay someone “good money” for images, I am going to make SURE that they do not have just the 10 ideal images from the past 10 YEARS on their portfolio (or that they aren’t using someone elses images- which also happens)!!

The black tux and white of a wedding gown are difficult for exposure, so take that into account when looking at “raw” images.

If it is a new photographer who doesn’t necessarily have wedding references, try looking them up on onemodelplace.com or modelmayhem and see if you can find them (many do TFP with models to get images in their portfolio- and then you can contact the models on their OMP page).

Remember that references are often faked. They could have shot a wedding for their sister

Prints are often overpriced. Look up basic wholesale costs on backprint.com or on the web (even walmart.com) and come with those numbers when you meet.

For a wedding, I would go with a photographer who shoots film, even if he also shoots digital or will shoot digital for your wedding.
The reason for this is that photographers who learned on film (“old school”) often have usually mastered the basics MUCH superior than those who began with digital. Film is harder to fake and someone who learned by spending hundreds of dollars on bad negatives… well, I think it would make for a shorter learning curve and a higher percentage of good images!

Student photographers who have gotten a BA degree in photography have film courses as requirements, so if you cannot find an “old school” photog… think about someone with the investment and knowledge of a degree behind them (from an accredited university- not some questionable on the web course).

Also, equippment. They should atleast have the professional lighting!! It’s cheap to rent, and if someone cannot invest in atleast a rental for good portable lighting… or if they do not know how to USE lighting (light meter, etc)… then I would run

I know, this sounds tough on photographers… but there are way too many people out there calling themselves photographers and it is SO hard to tell with digital media and editing.

As far as the pricing, come armed with a budget.
Give them your “lowball” budget first and negotiate up from there.
Don’t sign anything until you have talked to a few other photographers. Ask photographers you meet with about eachother (it’s worth a try, though I do not know how chatty they would be knowing you are planning a wedding- as a glamour model, photogs are usually protective enough to warn me away from scammers).

Also, ask them about other photographers…. if a student is unobtrusive and doesn’t get in the way or use flashes, can they also photograph the event? If so, finding a student to do your wedding for their portfolio and the experience would be a great way to get extra images for cheap/free

That’s all I can think of at the moment.
Hope this helps!

Question by shawnabt_2004:
wedding dress?
I have found this dress on the web and I really like it’s style but I have not found anything like it anywhere else. I know it is from 3 seasons ago and I am worried it might be discontinued. But everyone one is telling me it is to early to go shopping for my dress since our wedding isnt for another 2 1/2 years. Is it ok to go shopping now or is it to early?

——————————————

Answer by dancexlove43v3r
no.
if it were a year from now that would be kind of okay.
you’re going to lose weight or gain wieght.
just wait!

Answer by mariebear
I think I would wait. A lot of things could happen in that length of time. I actually lost about 10 pounds from buying my dress to the wedding day. That was only three months, there was nothing they could do when I picked my dress up. I was lucky I had gotten straps sewn on.

Answer by Elaine
i think you should wait. the wedding is pretty far away. and not saying that this will necessarily happen but the wedding might be call off. and you might lose or gain weight. hope this helps! and congrats!
