HOW CAN I THANK PEOPLE, WHOM I DIDN’T INVITE TO MY WEDDING, FOR WEDDING GIFTS?

Question by shadow_11:
How can I thank people, whom I did not invite to my wedding, for wedding gifts?

I just had my wedding Saturday, and got lots of gifts, and some of those are from friends/family that I did not invite to the wedding. It’s not that I did not want them to come, but me and husband had to pay for the majority of the wedding and just did not have enough money to cover the expense of a bunch of people. Anyways, when I send them thank-you cards, what should I state on the card?? I feel really guilty because I could not invite them, but it just was not practical. Any advice? Thanks!!

ANY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS OR PEOPLE WHO HAD A PROFESSIONAL TAKE PICTURES AT YOUR WEDDING, IS THIS NORMAL TIME?

Question by Jaylyn:
Any wedding photographers or people who had a professional take photos at your wedding, is this normal time?

We got married on 7-7-7 (July 7th, 2007)…our photographer (a professional small company) told us he had have our proofs in a couple weeks when he left for the night…I believe it took about 4 or 5. Then when we put our order (we had to pay up front) we were told it’d be a couple weeks…we waited 3 or 4, he stated it’d be another couple weeks, we waited 2 or 3…the prints still aren’t ready and our album will be another couple weeks before we can even review it then a few weeks before we get it.

Now of course I am a tiny anxious to get them, plus we are out all the money until they come in (I was not about to charge my family/friends in advance when they did not even know or pick the guy, just in case something like this happened), but I also need my wallets for thank you cards, my announcement pic for the paper…it’s now 4 months after our wedding. What I am mad about is saying one thing but doing another.

Any recommendations what I should/can do? Is this time frame normal?
I forgot to mention, we are in a small area…it’s not like it’s a busy city or massive area either.
Should I demand some money back or someting, obviously I have no control over the date. I just am not satisfied with the service, especially as much as we paid.
Sorry about the typo, yes, it has been 3 months…not 4 months (going on 2 months since we put the order)!

Also let me add, the contract does not provide a specified time, had I known, yes, I would have had them add that!

Q&A: HOW IS IT THAT PEOPLE CONFUSE WEDDING RINGS & ENGAGEMENT RINGS?

Question by nova_queen_28:
How is it that people confuse wedding rings & engagement rings?

Just curious, but I see lots of questions on here like “how much should I spend on a wedding ring” and they really mean the engagement ring or “what is the difference between an engagement ring and a wedding ring?”.
So I am wondering how is it that a lot of people seem to confuse the two or not know what the difference is. Or are there just a lot of young people here who do not know the difference??

OKAY SINCE A LOT OF PEOPLE SEEMED TO THINK MY FAKE WEDDING RING IDEA WOULDN’T WORK?

Question by sweetie:
Okay since a lot of people seemed to think my fake wedding ring idea would not work?

How about if I begin wearing my Twilight shirts? Will that repel the unwanted attention from guys when I go out just wanting to enjoy myself and not be their entertainment for the night?

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT PEOPLE COUNTING AND COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR WEDDING GIFTS?

Question by mistaken4sane:
What do you think about people counting and complaining about their wedding gifts?

The day after their wedding, my brother and his new wife sat down and went through all their wedding gifts/cards and compared them with the guest list.

They basically made note of what everyone gave (for thank you cards).

Since then, they have been speaking to us (immediate family: me, my sis, dad, mom, etc.) and complaining about supposedly “cheap people” who did not give them a gift or who gave only $ 50, (our cousin, for example) etc.

What do you think about that? Is that kind of behavior normal, acceptable and generally expected, or is that completely ridiculous and rude? Something in between?

Thanks!
They basically believe that since the wedding was expensive, the gift should reimburse them. They did state it could depend on the person’s means, tho. To their credit — they stated it’s cool for a single person to maybe gift $ 50. But they stated an established middle class couple should double that.

WHY DO PEOPLE THINK WHITE WEDDING GOWNS SIGNIFY VIRGINITY?

Question by Charlotte:
Why do people think white wedding gowns signify virginity?

Why do people think a white wedding dress signifies purity, virginity, etc.? I thought that the first white wedding dress, worn by Queen Victoria, was chosen for political reasons. I cannot remember where I heard this but I thought she selected not to dye her dress because of the economic hardships in England during that time and she wanted to show her awareness and sensitivity to public suffering. Are they both right?
